1. Boho Twisted Plant Pot Cover

Designer: Veronika Cromwell of Blue Star Crochet. Veronika calls this a quick, beginner-friendly boho style plant pot cover that also makes a lovely gift. It uses one ball of King Cole Cottonsoft DK on a 4 mm hook, and it stretches over a pot that is 10 cm across the bottom, 47.5 cm around and 13 cm high. The tension is 16 stitches by 8 rows in 10 cm over double crochet.

2. Hearts Full of Love Cover

Designer: Jennifer Renaud of A Crocheted Simplicity. Hearts Full of Love uses less than one ball of yarn, and it works as a plant basket, a mason jar cozy, a candle holder or a gift basket for Valentine’s Day. Made in a neutral color, it can stay out long after Valentine’s Day. An ad-free PDF with all the photo tutorials is on Ravelry and Etsy.

3. Custom Plant Pot Cover

Designer: Smitha Katti of Smiling Colors. This is a quick, cozy cover that uses a little yarn, and you can make it in an afternoon, in bulky (6) yarn, Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Fisherman. She says to measure your pot base first, and to crochet a flat circle slightly larger than the diameter. A smaller hook, like an H8 or below, makes the fabric stiff and firm.

4. Easy Crochet Plant Pot Cover

Designer: Blue Star Crochet. This entry links to the same Blue Star Crochet pattern as #1, so the details above apply: a DK cotton cover on a 4 mm hook that stretches over a small pot about 10 cm across the bottom.

5. Striped Moss Cover

Designer: Erin Toews of Juniper and Oakes. Erin says plant pot covers are a perfect way to add color and texture without buying new pots, and that you can switch covers for endless options. She also has a Cozy Alpine and a Mosaic Squares plant pot cover. The free version is one size, and the ad-free PDF with more sizes costs $5.00.

6. Julie Basket Plant Pot Cover
Designer: Pam Dajczak of Sincerely Pam. She says it works for baskets or planter covers and uses minimal yarn, so use scrap cotton. For a sturdy basket she says use the smallest stitches you can, and to worry less about gauge and more about tight stitches, but if covering a plant pot the pot itself will hold the shape.

7. Textured Plant Pot Cover
Designer: Marina Russo of Bloodimaryart
Listed level: Easy, about one hour
This is Marina Russo’s Hug-Me plant pot cover, and the pattern shows two versions with the same yarn but different hooks: version A is about 3 inches tall and 2.5 inches across on a 6 mm hook, and version B is 4 inches tall and 3.5 inches across on a 4.5 mm hook, in aran or worsted yarn. It is made for cone-shaped pots and has written instructions with pictures.

Measure the pot and check the original pattern’s fit guidance before starting. A decorative cover, a plant hanger, and a closed basket have different drainage and construction needs; do not assume one pattern applies to another use.
