Image Sourcing & Usage Policy
Images are a core part of how KnotToYarn.com (“the Site”) helps readers understand crochet patterns and techniques. This policy explains where my images come from and how I use them.
Images From Pattern Designers
When I feature a pattern created by another designer, most often in my roundup posts, the photos shown are sourced directly from that designer’s original post or shop listing, with proper credit and a link back to their site. I do not claim ownership of another designer’s photography or pattern, and I never republish another designer’s full pattern as my own. For some of these designer-credited patterns, the image shown has been reworked or enhanced with AI to improve clarity or photo quality. When I do this, I always keep the same stitches, colors, and finished item shown in the designer’s own photos, and I do not alter or invent what the pattern actually looks like. Before publishing any AI-reworked image, I check the designer’s own blog or shop listing as the real reference to make sure the recreation matches their actual pattern.
Original Photography
For patterns that I create and test myself, the photos are taken by me, of my own finished projects, works in progress, and materials.
Use of AI-Assisted Imagery
In some tutorials and guides, I use AI-generated or AI-assisted illustrations alongside real photos, for example, to show a stitch diagram, a close-up of a technique, or a visual explanation that is clearer as a diagram than a photograph. These images are used purely to help explain a step more clearly. They do not replace real project photos, and they are never used to misrepresent a finished pattern’s actual appearance. The written instructions and pattern content itself remain fully written, tested, and verified by me, regardless of whether an image on the page is a photo or an AI-assisted illustration.
My Commitment to Accuracy
Whether a photo, an AI-assisted illustration, or a designer-sourced image, every image on this Site is chosen to accurately represent the pattern or technique it accompanies. If you ever spot an image that seems misleading, mismatched to its pattern, or incorrect in any way, I want to know so I can fix it.
