Free crochet patterns, tutorials, and tools, made to be genuinely useful.
Hi, I’m Hachim. KnotToYarn is run by a small group of friends who share one hobby and far too much yarn, but I’m the one you’ll actually find with a hook in hand, testing rounds, catching mistakes, and telling the rest of us when a pattern isn’t ready yet. I started this site because I kept bookmarking patterns that were either too vague to follow or missing the one detail that would’ve saved me an hour of frogging. KnotToYarn is built around one simple idea: making something beautiful with a hook and a ball of yarn should feel approachable for everyone, whether you’re chaining your very first row or you’ve been stitching for years.
What You’ll Find Here
- Free, step-by-step crochet patterns, granny squares, wearables, amigurumi, accessories, and home decor.
- Beginner guides and stitch tutorials that explain the why, not just the how.
- Handy free tools, including our Crochet Calculators and Graph Pattern Maker.
- Roundups that gather standout free patterns from across the craft community, always credited and linked back to the original designers.
How We Create Our Content
Every pattern, tutorial, and guide on KnotToYarn is carefully researched and written to be clear and beginner-friendly. We cross-reference established crochet conventions and trusted references such as the Craft Yarn Council for standard yarn weights, hook sizes, and stitch terminology. Original patterns are reviewed by me, and wherever possible I make them myself before they go live, my tested makes are noted on the patterns they belong to. When we point you to a pattern from another designer instead of writing our own, we check it against their real source page first, so the description and photo you see actually match what you’ll be making. Because crochet is hands-on, we treat our patterns as living documents: if a reader spots an error or a step that could be clearer, we update it. Found something? Tell us, that feedback genuinely makes the site better for the next maker.
Our Promise
- Always free. Our core patterns and tutorials are free to use for your own projects.
- Honest and transparent. When a post contains affiliate links or ads, we say so (see our Affiliate Disclosure). We only point you toward products we’d genuinely recommend to a friend.
- Respectful of other makers. When we feature someone else’s design in a roundup, we link to the original and never republish another designer’s full pattern as our own.
